GETTING THERE AND AROUND

Many hours the driver works ( normally not more then eight) and how much is the charge for any overtime. Don't expect your driver to know all the roads of the island. Most driver are not too adventurous and they prefer to stick to the most frequented tourist circuits only. If you want to explorer lesser known areas get a good map and plan on being the co pilot.

Drivers will try to make you stop at their favorite shops hotels and restaurant. Be aware that is no sign of their quality but rather an ind icator of how fat the drivers commission when they bring guests in the commission can range between 10 and 30% drivers and wages. In some cases a driver may try to dater you from going to other places especially to remote areas far from business opportunities. Remain nice and friendly, but make it clear that you are the one who decides where you want to go.



Motorbike rental is also easily available in tourist areas and extremely cheap. Insurance is not available. A gook helmet is required covering the ears. The rental company should supply it make sure it fits and is in good condition if not, buy one a worthy investment. The company will not require you international drivers license but cops bikes.

Although a great way to enjoy the island, motorbike driving is extremely dangerous in Bali traffic. With a turn into a very nasty experiences especially if you look keep it in mind and drive very cautiously. Buy a large waterproof poncho available in any roadside shop and keep it under the seat for fla sh rains.
